My home overlooks a school, which became an emotional fixture in my life the past couple months during the pandemic.
When I chose to isolate two weeks before the lockdown, it felt strange hearing the kids play outside, like nothing was wrong. But when the school shut down I sorely missed the sound of kids laughing and playing. Now, every once in a while a lone maintenance guy comes by the school. He's become a strange symbol of how everything feels so empty and eerie in these strange times.
